Environment & Climate Action
Combating climate change through sustainable solutions
The Problem
Environmental conservation lies at the heart of APCT's mission. Our Environment & Climate Action Programme focuses on restoring degraded ecosystems, increasing green cover, conserving biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and promoting environmental stewardship through active community participation. By working with schools, local communities, government agencies, volunteers, and corporate partners, we are creating greener landscapes and healthier ecosystems for future generations.
Green Shadows
Green Shadows is APCT's flagship environmental restoration initiative dedicated to creating sustainable green spaces and improving ecological balance. The programme transforms barren and underutilized lands into thriving ecosystems through scientifically designed plantations and community-led conservation efforts.

Akira Miyawaki Forests
Using the globally recognized Miyawaki method, APCT develops dense native forests that grow significantly faster than conventional plantations. These forests improve biodiversity, enhance carbon sequestration, reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and create habitats for birds, butterflies, and other native species.

Native Tree Plantation
The Trust promotes the plantation of indigenous tree species in schools, villages, public institutions, industrial campuses, and community spaces. Native trees strengthen local ecosystems, require minimal maintenance, conserve water, and provide long-term environmental and social benefits. Beyond planting trees, APCT works towards restoring entire ecosystems by protecting native flora and fauna, improving soil health, creating pollinator-friendly habitats, and encouraging ecological regeneration through community participation and environmental education.
Water Restoration & Pond Desilting
Water is one of the most valuable natural resources for sustaining life, agriculture, and biodiversity. APCT undertakes initiatives that conserve, restore, and rejuvenate water resources while promoting responsible water management practices among communities. Restoring village ponds and traditional water bodies helps improve groundwater recharge, strengthen local ecosystems, and ensure water availability for communities, agriculture, and biodiversity. APCT promotes sustainable water management practices that encourage efficient use of water resources, community participation, and climate resilience in both rural and urban areas.
